I am a clarinet player that likes to perform and arrange things. I specialize in bass clarinet and retired in 2016 as the bass clarinetist of the US Air Force Band in Washington DC. I have played in orchestras, bands and chamber groups on the East and West coasts and performed with an array of celebrities from John Luther Adams to Kool and the Gang. I maintain a studio at the Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy and am the bass clarinetist for the Atlantic Reed Consort.
I tend to arrange music I find interesting for ensembles I find interesting. I never quite accepted the idea that you should only play music written for your specific instrument. This has resulted in everything from concert band transcriptions to reed quintets to unaccompanied solos. I also take requests. If you have a particular project or idea, contact me and we'll discuss.
A happy byproduct of all this is a proficiency in music engraving. If you don't know what that is, it's turning your old hand-written, hard to read, possibly water damaged music into digital, legible scores that can be easily transposed and otherwise manipulated. Plus, you get to hear it without contracting a symphony orchestra to come to your house. If you would like to see some samples of my work, I’ve included a few here. MUSIC ENGRAVING SAMPLES
